The Sunrise Medical Quickie Nitrum is the lightest adjustable aluminium wheelchair on the market. Known previously as the Quickie Helium the Nitrum features a small refresh including improvements to the backrests and forks while also gaining never seen before semi-integrated LED Lights.

The Nitrum remains the same weight as the Helium with a transport weight starting from 5.2 kg. The Nitrum, and Helium before it, achieved this impressive low weight due in part to the specialist aluminium tubing which is oval shaped and made with 7020 aluminium. The oval shaping serves as an aesthetic bonus but also masks a significant step forward in weight saving advancements.

With a full suite of customisations available to the seating and frame the Nitrum is a very popular choice with experienced active wheelchair users, and especially for those who don't like the look of carbon. Prescribing a Nitrum is an in-depth process but the end result is a wheelchair that performs strongly, maximises your available energy and helps you achieve your daily goals. Even after it is built the Nitrum can be fine tuned to change settings such as the centre of gravity, the castor angle, the amount of bucket in the seat and much more.

One of the most sought after changes that came with the refresh is the mechanism to release the backrest. The old draw-string release mechanism has been replaced with a release bar which is much easier to use and requires less strength. For an upcharge there is also an enhanced version with a twist grip mechanism making it perfect for single handed operation when handling the chair into a passenger seat.

A premium wheelchair would be nothing without a set of premium wheels to match. The Sunrise Nitrum, as with all chairs in the Quickie range, is compatible with ultra-lightweight performance wheels such as Spinergy's which in turn are compatible with various after-market handrims and puncture-resistant tyres.
