The Sunrise Medical Breezy Ibis Tilt In Space wheelchair is a leading pressure management wheelchair that is smart, discreet and easy to use. Popular in the NHS and private care settings the Sunrise Medical Ibis wheelchair is the second most popular wheelchair we supply. When excellent positioning control is needed for clients at high risk of skin breakdown or who are already being managed for pressure ulceration the Ibis is a valuable and sometimes essential tool.

A class 1 medical device the Ibis is a fully configurable prescription wheelchair supplied by assessment only. Covering the whole of Kent we are equipped and trained to prescribe the Ibis transit and self propel, alongside the powered version - the Ibis Powerdrive. Assessments can be conducted here on site or within the clients care setting, whether that be a hospital, residential home, nursing home or private dwelling.

The Sunrise Ibis utilises the Sedeo seating system - an award winning seating system that is widely recognised amongst the professional community thanks to its modularity and catch-all options. In practice this means a very large spectrum of client needs can be safely and comfortably accommodated and should changes need to be made midway through these can be done without the need to replace the whole product.

The Sedeo seating system enables us prescribers to achieve a seated posture which makes it possible to achieve individual objectives related to physical support as well as meet social and clinical challenges. This requires effective support of the body, particularly within the pelvic and thoracic areas. This highly customisable seating sits atop the Ibis chassis which provides a 30 degree range of tilt in space movement with infinite adjustment. Thanks to high pressure rams delivering assistance, adjusting someone's position is effortless and smooth.

Aspects of the seating that we'll consider on assessment include the base cushion, the backrest style, the type of headrest, the style of legrest and the armrest and side supports. Each of these aspects can be changed to accommodate a clients known or anticipated needs. For example, a backrest with contouring may be beneficial for clients who are likely to begin fatiguing quickly without thoracic support or who already present with slumping or leaning. Similarly, a high risk pressure cushion may be prescribed early on for a client at high risk of skin breakdown or cushions with pre-ischial shelves may be used to prevent sliding where the use of harnessing is not necessitated.

The Ibis is a crash tested wheelchair which makes it suitable for transporting people in a vehicle when correctly restrained and thanks to its robustness and modularity makes it a great pool wheelchair for residential homes to have available for newly admitted residents pending their own provision.
