Healthcare seating
Every single chair made by Repose is bespoke to you. A full seating assessment is carried out by us to ensure every aspect of the chair meets your ongoing needs.
Where typical assessments simply measure you for the width of the chair we prefer to go a little deeper...
A seating assessment considers every aspect from seat width, depth and height to arm height, motor function, angle of rise, density of foam, colour and fabric pattern and overall shape and size.

Mechanisms
The most important aspect we consider before prescribing any healthcare chair is the seating positions that are required to aid the conditions you may have, and also address any pressure and postural management needs.
Selecting the correct mechanism is at the heart of this. There are three mechanism types: Single Motor, Dual Motor and Quadmotor. Each of these motor types can then be further subdivided into 'Tilt In Space' or 'Non Tilt In Space'.
We talk quite a lot about Tilt In Space as its a clever way of harnessing gravity to help you relieve pressure on your backside and redistribute it into your back. It also helps keep you back in the chair and more stable.

Backrests
A bespoke seating solution not only requires the correct cushion but also needs a comfortable backrest.
The most common backrest prescribed is the three-tier Waterfall backrest which offers three adjustable tiers of fibre-filled cushions. These can be adjusted by removing or adding fibres to increase or decrease immersion.
On the Boston, pictured, we typically recommend the Double Comfort backrest as its shape ensures good immersion while the naturally forming lateral cushions envelop the user. These backrest also support positioning wedges to encourage even greater lateral support, if required.
